Troy Nelson's Last Call set for Limitless Wrestling's Identity Crisis
By Josh Nason
The decade-long in-ring career of “Top Shelf” Troy Nelson will come to a glorious end at this Saturday’s Limitless Wrestling Identity Crisis.
Troy’s Last Call will see the popular Limitless broadcaster enter the squared circle for one last time against two friends that will turn foes for the night in “Smart” Mark Sterling and CPA in a three-way dance. The three men were co-hosts of the Off The Hop Rope podcast and have been teammates and rivals in the ring, but never like this.
The show is set for Saturday, April 22nd at the Morgan Hill Event Center in Hermon, Maine. Less than 100 tickets remain and for those who can’t make it in person, it will stream live for IWTV subscribers.
CPA will be looking to rebound from his loss to Channing Thomas at December’s Dirty Laundry while this will be Sterling’s first match in Limitless since September 2021’s Euphoria when he teamed with VSK.
Nelson and Sterling have done battle in Limitless before with Nelson picking up the win at November 2016’s Hogwash.
This Saturday will be the 23rd time Nelson has competed for Limitless which dates back to the very first show: Stage One in September 2015. He competed in several multi-man matches and eventually tag team action.
He picked up his first singles win over Scott Wild at September 2016’s Past Your Bedtime and went on a nine-match winning streak that included an Over the Top, Under The Table match and a Texas bullrope match. He picked up wins over Kikutaro, Swoggle and Colt Cabana along the way and eventually created a tag team with Dick Justice called Whiskey Dick. The team had an impressive run before disbanding after a Wet Hot American Street Fight loss to Jay Freddie & John Silver.
As his in-ring appearances have wound down, Nelson’s announcing gigs have only grown throughout the Northeast U.S. But for the night, he will put down the mic (and bottle) and lace ‘em up one final time.
Will he go out with a win or get carried out like it’s closing time? Be there and find out!
